WTF? A freak late October snowstorm surprises the Northeast, where residents will spend the Halloween weekend shoveling snow, instead of raking leaves! It is now snowing pretty heavily in New York City where a few inches are expected, while Upstate New York and New England are bracing for a foot of the heavy, wet white stuff!

Normally busy streets at the Jersey Shore are nearly empty after a mandatory evacuation is in effect to prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Irene. This monster storm has also forced Atlantic City's casinos in New Jersey to close down for only the third time in 33 years.
Some locals have decided to violate the mandatory evacuation and not heed the warnings to their own detriment.

A mega snowstorm is underway in the Plains and Midwest which is predicted to dump several feet of snow in many areas, snarling traffic, closing schools and canceling and/or delaying flights. Ice and freezing rain are expected to be factors as well. After walloping the heartland, the ferocious storm will batter the snow-weary East Coast.
